Adopted mother to 16-year old Brian.
After nine years of teaching special education, Tayla decides it’s time for a change and hands in her resignation. The next day she meets her adoptive son, Brian. “ Brian was this frail, ornery, sickly little boy, and he started calling me mommy on his first day of school,” Tayla explains. “ I fought it for 6 weeks, then finally said, I will be your mommy.”
As an adoptive mother, Tayla explains, “ I knew what I was getting myself into”. “Like most families, we have our ups and downs. But overall we’ve had way more ups than downs. We don’t take anything for granted. We live every day like we don’t know what tomorrow will bring, and we try to make memories that will last.”
