Melinda's goal in working with LGS Foundation is to provide support and education to other parents and caregivers, as well as raise awareness about Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome.
Melinda is the mother of an amazing young man, Christian "Tyler" who has battled with intractable seizures since infancy. Tyler was diagnosed with Infantile Spasms at the age of 10 months and as he grew older the diagnosis progressed to Lennox Gastaut Syndrome.
Through the years Melinda has felt fear and shed many tears. She spent many years thinking her son was the only one going through the nightmare of LGS. So many questions were left unanswered for her family and there was little support offered to her.
Melinda wants to serve as the voice she wished she would have had when her world crumbled. She wants to help answer many questions new and veteran parents have. Melinda wants to be the support that makes other parents feel comfortable sharing their fears and tears with. And finally, she wants to be a part of an organization that focuses on making life better for those who suffer the same fate as her son and her family.
